Hygge with Herrick: Get Cozy with the Winter Challenge

'Tis the season for the warm and cozy, for hunkering down and staying in, avoiding shoveling the driveway at all costs and maybe spending some extra time just taking care of yourself. In other words, it is the season of hygge (hoo-gah)! Hygge is a Danish word that embodies the sense of coziness and contentment, warmth and joy. For our Winter Challenge this year, Herrick is inviting you to come in from the cold and embrace the things in your world that give you a sense of hygge.

Winter Challenge

Starting December 15, you can come to either library location for a paper copy or head to our Beanstack site to sign up. We've created a list of suggestions that focus on the major themes of hygge: light, presence, gratitude, warmth, connection, harmony, pleasure, nature, and, of course, reading! To finish, you need to complete four challenges, all of which will help make your world a little more hygge this season. Completed challenges can be turned in starting February 15 at either location for a special hygge-themed prize. This Winter Challenge is open to all ages.
