In July 2019, Booklist (a publication from the American Library Association) officially declared July to be Graphic Novels in Libraries Month! Graphic novels often get a bad wrap, as a lot of people don't necessarily consider them "real reading." However, multiple studies have shown that this is not the case. As Scholastic points out, graphic novels: include a lot of text, they're engaging, and they feature complex characters, plot, and conflicts. They are great for new and old readers alike.
