Book Group to Go

Book Group to Go bags can be reserved online through Kitkeeper. Each bag contains 12 copies of a book, discussion questions, book reviews, and information on the author of the book. To reserve bags online you will need your Herrick District Library card (or be able to choose Herrick as your home library) and your PIN. Bags can be checked out for six weeks.

Laptops

Borrow a laptop to use while in the library. HDL laptops cannot leave the building, but can be brought into study rooms, meeting rooms, the children’s department, etc. You must have a photo ID with you to borrow a laptop. 

Audio Enabled Books 

Audio-enabled books are read-along books with a built-in player and speaker. See the wide variety available at both the Main Library and the North Branch. 

Bike Locks 

The Herrick District Library offers bike locks to all patrons using the library. Simply bring your library card or ID to the Library Card Desk at the Main Library to check one out for your visit. 

Library of Things

Discover new skills with hands-on tools, from laser measures to air quality meters. Create with graphics tablets, gimbals, action cameras, light box kits, and musical instruments. WiFi Hotspots

For those who don’t have internet at home or need it on the go, the Herrick District Library offers mobile hotspots for 7-day checkout. A mobile hotspot allows you to connect multiple personal devices, such as laptops, tablets, and phones, to the internet for free. Reserve one today

Kindles

Borrow a Kindle Paperwhite eReader pre-loaded with fiction, non-fiction, and classic ebooks. The Paperwhite e-ink display is perfect for outdoor enjoyment and the built-in light makes for cozy bedtime reading. Find our Adult Kindles near the Library Card Desk at the Main Library and our Teen Kindles upstairs. Check them out for 3 weeks. Or reserve an adult or teen Kindle online today.

  • Learning Tablets for ages 3-10

Our children’s department offers Discovery Packs for checkout. Each backpack contains five different picture books and board books on a theme. See what themes are available

Board Games 

Over 30 different board games are available for 7-day checkout. View the list of titles to put one on hold. Look for board games on display in the lobby or near the DVDs. 

Video Games 

Try a video game for 7 days without breaking the bank. Borrow Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X games. Stop by to see what’s in stock near the DVDs or put one on hold.  

Roku Streaming Devices 

Stream content from Apple TV and Hulu with a Roku, available for 7-day checkout. Roku devices are rarely in stock inside the library. We recommend putting one on hold. 

STEAM Kits 

The children’s area offers kits with one book and activities on a common theme related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math. View the themes to see what’s available.
