North Branch Story Project

This year, we were inspired by the Little Read Lakeshore, opens a new window to develop a special series of programs for kids that would encourage budding authors to develop their writing skillsWhat better way to encourage writing than by publishing a book? On top of that, the published books will be made available for checkout at the North Branch!  If kids register to join this epic, hero’s journey through writing, they will work through a series of workshops on Thursday evenings in October that will result in their hard work landing on our North Branch shelves. Various local literary superstars will guide this group of kids, including Karen Rowe, a local teacher and creative writing expert, Lindsay Zrull, a Herrick Librarian and a published author, and Beth Trembley, a retired Hope professor and published graphic novelist!  On November 17th at 6:30pm, we will celebrate our books together with Ben Hatke, author of the Zita the Spacegirl and Mighty Jack graphic novels. Each author (including Ben Hatke, of course!) will have a booth they can use to sign autographs and talk about their book with attendees. Registration, dedication, and enthusiasm are required for this special month-long series!
