This month, we say goodbye to Freegal, a music service that the library used to have a subscription to. Unfortunately, it was a rather pricy subscription and though the service had a dedicated user base, it was a quite small user base. Instead, we are investing that subscription fee into our other music service, Hoopla.
Hoopla offers more than just music, and the music is available to checkout by album, for a week at a time. You cannot download music from Hoopla to keep, but you can download it to a device while you have it checked out so that you can listen without an internet connection. Freegal was limited to music produced and distributed by Sony, Hoopla has a much wider range of music available. While Freegal was limited to 3 hours a day, Hoopla is limited to 15 checkouts a month.
