Any resident of the City of Holland or an area township served by Herrick District Library is entitled to a free library card. A library card provides borrowing privileges for books, music, DVDs and more. It gives access to downloadable material such as books, magazines, music and movies. The user can also access databases to obtain in-depth information and training free of charge. When inside the library building, a user may also access the Library's Public Access Computers using a library card.
To obtain an HDL library card, you will need current identification with your name and current address. We have created a virtual process for patrons to obtain access to our digital collections only. Click the link to register for a Digital Access Virtual Card.
Each library cardholder will also need a PIN number to check out items or to access some resources on the Herrick District Library website. A PIN number is automatically set up for each new account as the last four digits of the phone number listed on the library card registration. PIN numbers may be changed by contacting an HDL staff member for assistance or you can change it online.
