Bardcore (Modern Music with a Medieval Twist)

Hi, it's me, your local Renaissance festival hype girl. There are few things I adore more in this world than getting dressed up in costume and attending a fete. What better excuse is there to don hose, fairy wings, flower crowns, and gowns than HDL's Mini Renaissance Faire on July 22nd? Also, did you hear there will be mini-unicorns at the library? Yes. Mini unicorns. Real ones.

You don't want to miss this.

Are you ready to get excited with me? Get into the festival mood by listening to some of my favorite bardcore bands and medieval-style cover artists.

Algal the Bard is an extremely talented musician who plays all the instruments in his covers of metal and rock bands.  Here are a few to get you started: Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train, DragonForce's Through the Fire and Flames, Europe's The Final Countdown, or Black Sabbath's Iron Man.

Hildegard von Blingin' is a staple in my household. Once you've heard her cover of The Animals' House of the Rising Sun, Lady Gaga's Bad Romance or Dolly Parton's Jolene, you will forever be a Blingin' fan.

And here's a real left turn for you all, but who doesn't love dancing hobbits singing about Gandalf the Grey to the tune of Taylor Swift's Shake It Off? I present to you, the Library Bards' hit, Gandalf!

If you're Holding Out for a Hero, come to the HDL Mini Renaissance Faire on July 22nd and be your own!
