As the year comes to a close, many book lovers enjoy looking back on the books they've read and enjoyed last year, and filling in the gaps of those they might have missed. I'm always fascinated by the "Best Books" lists that are published around this time of year, and to see which ones I've read and enjoyed.
In compiling this "best of the best" list, I've included the best books from many different sources--I've drawn from critically acclaimed sources like School Library Journal and Kirkus, but I've also included the best sellers from Amazon's end-of-year list, and the favorites from book blogs like Book Riot and Thriftbooks. My hope is that by doing this I've included both prominent potential award-winners as well as popular best-sellers (and hopefully some books that are both!)
I've really enjoyed putting this list together, though my TBR pile has certainly grown! I hope you and the young readers in your life enjoy it too!
Herrick District Library recommends these titles as the very best children's nonfiction books published in 2023.
