Honoring Black History Month

Since 1976, Black History Month has been celebrated during the month of February. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate the influence Black Americans have had throughout history. While learning shouldn't be limited to just one month, February is a great time to reflect on the contributions of Black Americans and to discover new books about people who have made a positive impact on our country.

Biographies can be a great way to learn more about Black Americans during Black History Month. Luckily, we have a great selection here at the library! From artists to writers to scientists, check out a topic you’d like to learn more about.

Below you’ll find a list of a number of great biographies you can find in the children’s section here at Herrick District Library!
