Books for Groundhogs Day

Groundhogs Day is on February 2nd and many will be eager to see if Punxsutawney Phil and his shadow soothsaying signals a coming Spring or prolonged winter. But my favorite part of the oddball holiday is rewatching the classic film with Bill Murray in which a cantankerous man is caught in an endless loop reliving the same day over and over again. Time-loops make for an exciting premise so let's look at some books that would make a perfect read for Groundhogs Day.

End of the World House

If you get trapped in an endless time loop, being stuck at the Louvre seems like a decent way to spend it. Though in End of the World House by Adrienne Celt an impending apocalypse is also brewing and figuring out how to escape the loop may be the only way to stop it. A fun book about art, friendships and the end of the world.

The Do-over

The Do-Over by Lynn Painter is an adorable YA rom-com novel where, instead of Groundhogs Day, heartbroken Emilie Hornby finds herself waking up to relive a horrible Valentine’s Day over and over again. With each return she must revisit her cheating boyfriend and holiday heartbreak, but a new boy she keeps meeting might offer a way out of her rage and into romance. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this would be a great read for February!

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

Aiden Bishop is given eight days to determine which of eight witnesses murdered Evelyn Hardcastle in The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. There's just one catch: Aiden wakes up every day on the morning of her death in the body of a different witness and some of his hosts are far less helpful than others. Can Aiden stop the cycle by discovering the killer? This is an interesting twist on whodunnits and a perfect time-loop read for fans of Groundhogs Day.

Hope you don’t get stuck in an endless time-loop this February. If you do, here’s a further reading list of thrilling time-loop novels to keep you busy until you can break the cycle.
