What I’m Listening To – December

Hello all, it's time for another edition of what I'm listening to. For this month's theme, I decided on doing "Wintery" music couple with the library's theme of "Gathering Around Together". I hope you enjoy!

"Come Together" - The Beatles (The Beatles, 1967-1970)

During these incoming cold months, nothing is better than getting together with friends and family, preferably around a nice fireplace with hot cocoa. As such, what better song to gather around with each other than "Come Together", a great hit by The Beatles.

"We Are Family" - Sister Sledge (Sister Sledge)

With the Holidays upon us, it is a time for getting together with loved ones. "Family" does not always have to mean blood relation. I myself have people who I've known for over 15 years that I consider my family. This is just such a great uplifting song with a great tempo. If this doesn't get the family grooving to the music, I don't know what will.

"Coldest Winter" - Kanye West (808's and Heartbreak)

808's and Heartbreak came out after the critically successful "Graduation" album that Kanye put out, and it only continued his legacy in the 2000's as one of raps best artists. "Coldest Winter" has a catchy slow beat that when paired with Kanye's vocals makes this song one of the best of the soundtrack.

"Daughters" - John Mayer (Heavier Things)

With families getting together, I felt this song is a great one. John Mayer is such a chill individual, and you hear it in his singing. Who doesn't love acoustic guitar?

"Wintertime Love" - The Doors (Waiting for the Sun)

The Doors are one of the most iconic bands of the 60's. For me, it's hearing the Rhode's electric piano and Jim Morrison's haunting voice that are emblematic of the rock group. This is a short ballad, but goes with our theme of "Winter". If you haven't checked out The Doors before, give them a listen!
