Winter Break at the Library

Find everything from crafts to playtimes, movies, celebrations, or simply space to exist outside your busy home and holiday schedule.  Some events are drop-in, others are self-guided, like our StoryWalks in Ottawa County Parks, and a few have suggested registration if space is limited or so we have an idea of how many supplies we should have ready when you arrive.  If you’re looking for flexible opportunities, you can start your Winter Reading Challenge or just visit the library for the sake of enjoying time in this unique community space.

  • For the 0-5 age-group, we are taking a break from our normal storytime routine to bring you a few special events, including our annual Noon Year’s Eve Celebration at Holland Township Community Center, along with a few hands-on craft opportunities and casual family playtimes.
  • Bigger kids can craft to their hearts’ content by Making Musical Instruments at the Main Library or at several open-ended Crafternoons planned at the North Branch.  Play games and puzzles that inspire whole-body movement as they’re projected onto the floor with the North Branch’s new interactive projector.
  • Teens can earn community service hours at the quarterly Teen Volunteer Day or join in on the all-ages Learn to Draw Manga program. There are several all-ages events that would be fun for the whole family, like our Gingerbread House Making or sketch-walks led by our Maker-in-Residence Marcia Schrotenboer.
