What I’m Listening To – Fall ’26

Hello all, and welcome to another edition of What I'm Listening To! This quarter, we're going to touch on a more sensitive subject: mental health! I'll be the first to admit, life is full of ups and downs. I certainly don't wake up every day full of sunshine. Know that it's ok to not be ok. You are not alone, and are worth it! Some days you may feel overwhelmed, but know it's just temporary, and you will get through it! To help, here are 5 songs to get you through those tough days, and know that better things are ahead!

"Dog Days Are Over" - Florence + The Machine (Lungs)

This song rocks! I'll admit that I am not the biggest listener of this band, however this song is such a banger that I have played this many, many times! The song is about coming out of a stressful time of the year, leading into brighter days ahead. You may have heard this song at the end of the Marvel Movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It's such an uplifting song, and is great to get yourself going on the positive thinking path!

"Feeling Stronger Every Day" - Chicago (Chicago IX)

I love Chicago (The city, the band, and the Chicago Cubs. Bears and Blackhawks can go kick rocks). Being in band throughout middle and high school, I have an extreme appreciation for musical instruments, specifically horns. Well, these guys crushed it in that respect. This song for me isn't so much about the verses, as it is about the chorus. Some days I just need a pick me up, and when the buildup leads to "Feeling Stronger Every Day", I am jamming out, knowing things will get better, and I am a strong person.

"Carry On" - Fun (Some Nights)

This is my all time favorite Fun song. The whole album has a bunch of great songs, but this one got me through a lot when I first got out of college and couldn't find a job right away. Just know, "When you're lost and alone/and you're sinking like a stone, carry on".

"Lean on Me" - Sabrina Starke (Lean On Me - The Songs of Bill Withers)

Sometimes it might feel like you're alone, or that you're so down, but know you are not alone. In fact, as Bill Withers says, "Lean On Me/When you're not strong". There are always people in your life who can help you when you're down. Lean on them for strength and guidance!

"Walking On Sunshine" - Katrina and the Waves (Katrina and the Waves)

While I could have gone with Pharrell's "Happy", I remember this song would come on the radio when I was a kid. Especially when I was in a good mood, I would dance and sing along to this song. Remember, we experience lows so that when we experience the highs of life, it means that much more.

I hope you all enjoyed the music selection this time. Please know that life may get you down, but life can also bring you back up! Much love and care to all!
