Hello all, and welcome to another edition of "What I'm Listening to"! This month we welcome in the continuation of Fall and the approach of Winter. I thought that since Thanksgiving is this month that I should do a playlist of songs that I like which have food in the title. So go ahead, listen, pass it down the table, and enjoy!
"Banana Pancakes" - Jack Johnson (In Between Dreams)
I love me some Jack Johnson. There's just something about his voice that is soothing and makes you just relax. His album "In Between Dreams" came out in the early 2000's, and was an instant hit. His most famous song on the album unequivocally is "Banana Pancakes". This is a song that you could be listening to when you have just started getting around in the morning, the coffee pot is going, it's a cold morning, but you're warm inside your house. Acoustic guitars rock!
"Cherry Pie" - Warrant (10 Live!)
The 1980's saw the rise of Rock 'n Roll Hair bands such as Poison, Cinderella, and Quiet Riot to name a few. The band Warrant came around in the later half of the 80's, with "Cherry Pie" coming off of their second album. I think it's fair to say the song is their most popular track. The song is so quintessential 80's in the electric guitar, the cadence, and of course, the hair. Did I mention the hair? Whew. This song is a head banger and perfect if you are driving down the strip in your red Pontiac Firebird while you're going through your mid-life crisis.
"Tutti Fruiti" - Little Richard (Here's Little Richard)
Little Richard is one of the most influential musical artists of the 20th century. His musical style has been credited by many artists such as The Beatles, and for me, is someone who didn't get enough credit at the time. Little Richard had numerous hits in the 1950's, but "Tutti Fruiti" is one of my favorites. His excitable piano prowess and incredible vocals make you get up and dance right away, no questions asked. If you have not listened to this wonderful musician, I implore you to.

"Peaches And Cream" - 112 (Part III)
The R & B group 112 had a couple albums before "Part III", but none of their songs on those previous records were as popular as this "Peaches And Cream". Rhythmically smooth, the song is a bit on the innuendo, but is a classic for those of us who grew up in the early 2000's. With a feature by Sean "P- Diddy" Combs, you will find yourself bobbing to this track.
"Watermelon Sugar" - Harry Styles (Fine Line)
I will be the first to admit I'm not THAT big of a Harry Styles fan. I was too old to grow up with his boy band One Direction, and I show my age in not knowing most of his music. However, this song since it came out in 2019 is one of those songs that I can not only tolerate, but don't mind listening to. It is a light Summer song, but I don't think watermelon is a fruit you should limit yourself to one season of the year. To all my "Stylers" out there, this one is for you.
