Virtual Storytime Ep 3 Recap!

What time is it? Time for another virtual storytime recap! These storytimes are designed for infants with a caregiver through about 4 or 5 years old. Here's this week's episode!, opens a new window

This week, we told one of our favorite storytime stories: Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes., opens a new window

Why do we love Pete the Cat so much? Because Pete steps in lots of different things that turn his shoes different colors AND we get to sing a fun song together. Learning about colors helps us connect visual clues and words. There's also an opportunity at the end of the book to go back and ask questions like "What did Pete step in to turn his shoes red?" which is a great way to have children recall parts of the story.

If you're a fan of this story, Pete has a lot more books though Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons is big favorite of storytime staff. The original author, Eric Litwin, also has a number of other stories you might enjoy sharing as well.

Next up we sang another favorite: Sleeping Bunnies. Sleeping Bunnies is a great song for practicing self-regulation which is a very important skill we need in order to be ready to go to school. For babies, this is a great opportunity to do some bouncing which helps our youngest children "feel" the beat.

See the little bunnies sleeping 'til it's nearly noon

Come and let us gently wake them with a merry tune

Oh how still! Are they ill? Wake up soon.....Wake up bunnies and

Hop little bunnies, hop hop hop, hop little bunnies hop hop hop

Hop little bunnies, hop hop hop, hop little bunnies hop hop hop

Hop hop hop hop hop hop

We ended storytime with one last round of peekaboo with our mouse friend. Thanks so much for joining us and we'll see you next week!
