Return library materials to the parking lot drop box at either location, to the library vending machines, to other local library locations, or inside the library. Items that do not fit in the drop box should be returned inside the library or by using our curbside service. Any overdue fines are determined by the library that owns the item. Overdue materials not returned in a timely manner will incur billing fees.

Items can be manually renewed online or in the app by logging into your library account, or renewed by text if you are signed up. You will need your library barcode number and PIN. You may also check the status of your items by calling the library staff at (616) 355-3700.
You may suggest an item be purchased by the library by filling out the Suggest for our Shelves form.
Your home library is the library location where you choose to pick up your holds. All holds will automatically go to your home library and only your home library. Contact a staff member at either HDL location for more information.
When you have been notified your holds are ready for pickup, you can collect them from the hold shelf inside the library (holds are alphabetical by borrower’s last name) or use our curbside service during our open hours.
See our Curbside Service Instructions for information on how to use curbside pickup at either of our locations.
