There are two ways you can volunteer at HDL:
The Book Nook is a used book shop located on the lower level of the main library. The Friends of the Library accept donations of materials that meet their used book donation guidelines. When the Book Nook is closed, donations can be left with library staff at the Information Desk.
For information or to volunteer, contact the Book Nook.
You may suggest an item be purchased by the library by filling out the Suggest for our Shelves form.
Unfortunately, due to changes in child labor laws, HDL can’t accept any volunteers under the age of 14. For kids and teens between 14-17, there are strict regulations that make it difficult to accommodate all parties interested. Please feel free to reach out to our teen librarian for more information, and to see if your teen is eligible to volunteer at HDL.
For more information about teen volunteers, please visit our teen volunteer webpage.
