  • Study Rooms

    You may reserve a study room online, over the phone, or in person at the information desk. Study rooms can be reserved up to three days in advance. 

    You may use a study room without a library card.

    You can use our study rooms every day of the week (depending on availability) but can only have one active room reservation at a time. 

    • Study rooms help provide a quiet space for individual or group study/meeting. 
    • Study rooms are not available for social or for-profit functions.  
    • Study rooms are available free of charge during library hours.
    • Study rooms close fifteen minutes before the library closes.  
    • There is a maximum of up to 6 people per study room. 
    • You may reserve rooms up to 3 days in advance. 
    • Study room use is scheduled in blocks of 15 minutes for up to 2 hours per day.
    • Once your current reservation is complete you are welcome to stay until another reservation shows up or study rooms are full, and a new patron needs use the room.
    • Patrons must check in on the digital door panel before using a study room
    • Note: If patron does not arrive and check in within the first fifteen minutes of the reservation, the reservation may be re-assigned or canceled.  
    • Noise should be kept to a reasonable level, as rooms are not soundproof. 
    • The library is not responsible for loss of any items left in study rooms. 
    • Unattended items will be removed.
    • Rooms must be left in a clean and orderly condition. 
    • Anyone failing to abide by the policies and guidelines governing use of the study rooms may be denied future use of the rooms. 
    • The library reserves the right to schedule these rooms for library functions and services as needed. 
  • Meeting Rooms

    You may reserve meeting rooms online using our booking form, if you need assistance staff can help over the phone, or in person at the information desk. Meeting rooms can be reserved up to a month in advance. All meeting rooms require a reservation.

    In order to reserve one of our meeting rooms, you must have a Herrick District Library card. You may use any study room without a card, however. 

    Meeting rooms are available to Herrick District Library cardholders during normal library hours for no charge. Tech assistance in the auditorium is available for $25.00 a meeting. All public meetings must adhere to the meeting room policy and meeting room guidelines

    Fees may apply to nonprofit organizations booking a meeting room. 

    For the Auditorium, a $25 fee is required for use of any technical equipment and will include staff support for up
    to one hour during the setup and start of the meeting. These fees must be submitted to the Library Card Desk 7 business days in advance of each reserved
    date.

    A non-profit organization is limited to two reservations per month.

    The Herrick District Library provides meeting rooms to empower our community to connect, discover, and create, which is the Library’s mission. The primary intent of our meeting rooms is to provide space to implement regular Library programs. Not-for-profit organizations in the community are able to use the meeting rooms to provide programs open to the general public that are educational, cultural, or civic betterment in purpose.

    • HDL is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen items. Users are liable for any damage to furniture and fixtures. Room use may require liability and damage protection as determined by the Library Director or the Director’s representative.
    • Room users are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.
    • Smoking and alcohol use are prohibited in the Library.
    • Users of the rooms must be under adequate supervision by adults 18 years of age or older.
    • Room use is revocable by the Library at any time and for any reason.

    Endorsement

    The use of the meeting rooms by outside organizations does not imply endorsement of the organization or its programs by the Library. Organizations will not be permitted to use advertising or publicity that implies sponsorship or approval of the Library.

    No Discrimination

    HDL will allow room use on an equitable basis regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use. HDL requires that all room users will uphold high ethical standards without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or other protected status.

    Fees & Charges

    The Library’s meeting rooms shall be available for use free of charge. Room users may be charged for use of the Library’s audiovisual equipment and support. Organizations may not charge fees nor hold fund raising events in the meeting rooms. Continuing education workshops may charge a fee to cover the costs of supplies.

    The Library Director is authorized to develop guidelines and procedures to implement this policy. Organizations may not use the meeting rooms in such a manner as to go against the guidelines.
