  • Computers

    Yes. Stop by the desk to get a daily guest pass. You can use this guest pass to access the computers and send print jobs.

    Laptops are available for checkout at the Information Desk on the Main Floor as well as at the Children’s Information Desk.

    Laptops are limited to ages 18 and older and must be checked out with a library card and photo ID. They may be taken anywhere in the library but must remain in the building. Please do not leave young children unattended while in the library. 

  • Wi-Fi

    The library’s free public access wireless network is called herrick (Main Library) or herricknorth (Northside Branch).  After you connect, you’ll be prompted to sign-in and accept our terms of service. If you are not prompted to sign in after connecting, launch your browser and go to the library website. (https://herrickdl.org)

  • Printing

    You can print in black and white or color from any public computer or laptop in the library. You can also print from your own device using the mobile print center. Normal printing rates apply.

    It costs $.15 per side to print in black and white and $.25 per side to print in color for 8.5 x 11 size pages. Legal size (8.5x14) and Tabloid size (11x17) papers cost $.25 per side. Printing and copying on other sizes/envelopes is not supported.
    Our print stations accept cash (no $10 or $20 bills) and credit cards. 

    No. You can print with a daily guest pass. Grab a pass from the desk.

    You can print from your personal laptop or mobile device by using the mobile print center. Upload your documents and come to either the Main Library or North Branch within 24 hours to release print jobs. Normal printing rates apply.

    Mobile printing supports Microsoft Office formats, PDF, Open Office, text files, HTML documents, and most images. Mobile printing may not allow you to specify all printing options (for example, changing paper size).

    Remote print is not available using Internet Explorer as a browser.

  • Scanning and Faxing

    Yes, check out our fax services.

    Yes. Scanning to an email address or USB drive is free on our printers.

    You can scan paper documents to an email address or USB drive from one of our printing stations. Once your documents are scanned, you can log on to one of our public computers and upload your scans to any desired website.

    Faxes are available free to the public. Faxing is available both library locations.

    No. We only have outgoing faxing available. 

  • Policies and Rules

    Herrick District Library provides access to computers, the Internet and other electronic resources in support of our mission to Connect, Discover, and Create.  All computers for patron use are in public areas of the Library.  All patrons using computers and/or internet access at Herrick District Library must adhere to the following rules: 

    1. Parents or guardians of minors assume responsibility for their children’s use of the Internet while on Library property. 
    2. Certain areas of the Library are designed to be used by patrons of set age ranges.  Patrons outside of these age ranges are not allowed to log onto computer systems in those areas. 
    3. All patrons must adhere to federal, state and local laws governing the content, transmission and dissemination of information.   
    4. The Herrick District Library follows the rules and regulations of CIPA (Child Internet Protection Act). Therefore, the Library does not allow anyone using a computer on Library premises to view material that is obscene, sexually explicit and/or may be considered harmful to minors.   
    5. Patrons may only use currently installed software on Library computers. Computer configuration may not be altered. 
    6. Patrons should use only their own Library card or user account to access Library computers. 
    7. Patrons are prohibited from using resources and/or content that would harm Library materials, intimidate other users or in any way violate the Patron Code of Conduct. 
    8. The Library assumes no liability for loss or damage to users’ data or for injury arising from invasion of privacy as a result of using Library resources. 
    9. Patrons with questions or concerns about these rules and other users’ observance of them should be directed to Library staff. 

    Violators may be required to terminate their sessions, be asked to leave or be banned from the Library property for a period of time.
